I've always loved this song its such a great summer "feel good" song, but i was listening to it today and paying attention to the lyrics and it really stood out to me. I've been obsessed with images lately and this is a great representation of how Christians especially seem to act, how I tend to act a lot of the time. I cant tell you how many times I've walked into youth feeling broken and ashamed and just sat there smiling. I think that its really hard to share our troubles and mistakes because we're afraid that if we do that they wont think of us the same, or that we wont be accepted anyone. The thing is that it may be true, they might look at you differently and they might not treat you the same, but if they do then ask yourself - then were they even my friends in the first place? You see God wants us to come to him as we are: broken and bruised. God doesn't expect up to some to him clean and white, he expects us to be dirty and bruised and sinful. By coming to God as we are and loving him and worshipping him, thats when we become clean, through him. We change and our hearts change through having God in our lives, and part of that is being in community with others who have God in their hearts. Those who TRULY love God and follow after him WONT shame you for your mistake, but instead will encourage you through them and pray for you. Those are the people who you want, not the "perfect people."
